Ken Wentworth, A Biography

Born in Bangor, Maine

Ken's interest in music started at a very early age. He has been told that he started singing before he could talk. He learned to play guitar at age twelve. He put on shows for the neighbors and sat in with bands in the area. His roots were Rock and Roll and Blues. After meeting Dick Curless at age 17, that all changed and Ken's first love became country music with the blues a close second. Ken joined the Country Sundowners in the early 70s and played a lot of NCO clubs, golf courses, and bottle clubs. He also formed a group called "Uptown Country."

In early 1970, he did jingles with Harry King at Commercial Ventures Recording Studio in Bangor. There he did a demo called "Hog Town" that was sent to Dick Curless and later that year was recorded by Dick on Harry's label. His influences are Dick Curless, who was a personal friend, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Jerry Reed, and Kris Kristofferson.

Ken took a break from public appearances for several years but continued to record other artists during this time. Ken is now back in the music scene full time recording his own and many other artists' music at his "Victorian Studios" located in Bangor, Maine. He has many top musicians available to back up artists wishing to record their music. He offers "start to finish" CDs at a price that is affordable for world-class recording.

He has also received many awards from the Pine Tree State Country Music Association for his songwriting and his own recordings, including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for his recordings, "Many Happy Miles," "My House of Memories," and "On the Sacred Side." He was also the recipient of the 2005 Horizon Award, presented to an artist with significant achievenments in their career. In only four months, he advanced to the charts in Europe. He is currently the 17th most played artist in the world on the international charts in Europe, number three in France, and he has been in the top 40 in six countries and top 10 in four other countries. His goal right now is for one of his songs to reach Number One on the European or some other overseas chart.

Though very busy with his recording studio and his own music career, Ken always takes time to help other artists and country music associations. You can learn more about Ken and listen to some of his music on his website, www.kenwentworth.com.
